Steel Panther Suggest Nikki Sixx is a Hypocrite

Steel Panther delivered another attack in their war of words with Motley Crue, suggesting Nikki Sixx was a hypocrite for calling them “backstabbers.”

The latest round of badmouthing came about after Steel Panther frontman Michael Starr said in an interview he’d like to “bring back Vince Neil from back in the day because that guy is dead.” That earned a response from Sixx, who defended his colleague and accused Starr’s band of being “backstabbers” since they sometimes play Motley Crue songs at their shows.

The latest turn came with Steel Panther tweeting a video clip from 1994, in which Sixx and Crue guitarist Mick Mars take a dig at Neil, who wasn’t a member of the band at the time. Asked if they cared that Neil had recently been injured in a jet-skiing accident near a coral reef, Mars said: “My heart goes out to you… what happened to the coral reef, though?” Sixx said: “Hey, when 300 pounds of blubber land on the coral reef, you know there was some dust flying around.”

To add insult to injury, the comment before the clip was: “Hey Siri, what’s ‘backstabbing’?”

Earlier, Steel Panther drummer Stix Zadina had tweeted his own response to Sixx’s jibe, saying: “Sounds like someone needs some fucking attention. Haha.” He added later: “In order to stab someone in the back, you have to have been somewhat cordial to begin with.”

In 2015, Starr accepted that some members of Motley Crue didn’t like his band’s approach to music, saying that Sixx “just thinks we’re just a joke, like a stupid joke band that shouldn’t be playing with them.” But he added that Neil, who seemed happy with the situation had told him: “Hey, Michael, when we retire, you can have all our fans.”
